The SBTC offered its support of the TROL Act in a letter to Representative Michael Burgess, Chairman of the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade.

SBTC has been staunchly opposed to the competing patent reform legislation, the Innovation Act (HR 9), which is being considered in the House Judiciary Committee, and similar legislation is being considered in the Senate.  Our members believe that the Innovation Act will severely weaken the patent system making it more difficult and more expensive for small businesses to defend their intellectual property.

We have pushed for, and will continue to encourage Congress to pass the TROL Act as an alternative that will address the problems the patent system is currently facing with regards to “patent trolls”, but without harming small business inventors.
