The Small Business Technology Council sent a letter to President Obama this week offering our endorsement of Phil Johnson as the new Director of the US Patent and Trademark Office. Like the SBTC, he has been strongly opposed to the ongoing patent reform effort in Congress that could strip away intellectual property protections and place an undue burden on small businesses looking to defend and litigate their patent rights in court.
He also has broad support from both large and small firms, and his experience in intellectual property policy makes him well qualified for this position, and we urge the President to nominate Mr. Johnson as the next Director of the USPTO.
