SBTC Champion of Small Business Technology Commercialization Awards
One of the biggest challenges facing SBIR/STTR companies is in finding the funding necessary to commercialize their technologies. While the law requires certain incentives and preferences for Phase III provided by the agencies, many of the government workers in those agencies are unaware of these requirements, and/or lack the training to fully implement them. The difference between a company working with a knowledgeable, diligent, well-trained PM, PEO, or CO, and one who isn’t, could mean the difference between a company being able to secure the funding necessary to bring their technology to the marketplace or not.
With this in mind, in 2015 the Small Business Technology Council decided to highlight and honor some of best Program Managers, Contracting Officials, PEOs, and government officials for their work in helping SBIR/STTR companies commercialize their technologies. Individuals in government are nominated by the company that they worked with, and then evaluated by an independent panel who selects those that have gone above and beyond their responsibilities to help a small business get the funding they need to bring their technology closer to the marketplace.
The winners are then invited to accept their awards in person at SBTC’s annual membership meeting in Washington, DC.
