The SBTC sent a letter to the members of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee urging them not to support or co-sign the patent reform legislation introduced by Representatives Issa and Goodlatte.  We believe this legislation will make it more onerous and expensive for small businesses to obtain a patent on their intellectual property.  It will also make it much more burdensome for companies to defend their patents in court, which will have a disproportianately negative affect on small business innovators.

As an alternative, we asked the House to consider the TROL Act, which was introduced last year.  The language does a much better job of protecting small businesses from being unfairly targeted.
